This will sound sacrilegious so forgive me… I’m sick and tired of canned coffee. I’ve come to really enjoy black coffee with just a little sugar, rich complexities of a good bean and roast combination. I’ve become too much of a coffee snob for these cheap canned coffees. What’s wrong with me??? How did I get here.
Well, I think it all leads back to a combination of preferring black coffee over the powdered creamer that was so bountiful at my summer internship and a string of subpar coffees in the recent weeks. It’s fair to say that the further I go into even Japanese canned coffee the more into the weeds we get. I’ve already drank the ‘wheat’ of what the nation has to offer, the BOSS’ and UCC’s, and now I’m getting to the chaff. This isn’t to say everything put out by Wonda and Sangaria has been bad, moreso that it’s been grating. I’m kinda sick and tired of all of these tasting the same, artificial and with a weird aftertaste. But how does this one compare?
Well I spilled the first little bit onto my shirt so, for a six and a half ounce can it’s especially full. It’s alright, just alright. The cream isn’t too strong, the sugars not too high, that aftertaste is still there though. Maybe it’s because I just brushed my teeth and the minty freshness is carrying me over but its ok. Would I buy this one? If it’s cheaper than Caribou maybe. But a 12 ounce Caribou drip coffee is like 2.60 and will be leaps and bounds better tasting. You can add all the cream and sugar you want to that.
