Ok, no more screwing around! This is The coffee, accept no others. Forget the Pokkas, the BOSS’, the Highlands, the Lotte, this is the only coffee you’ll ever need to drink again. It’s the coffee, THE coffee! The one, the only, stands out in its crowded field for some of the only english on the can saying ‘THE COFFEE’ because that’s what it is! The coffee. The stuff, the good stuff, the stuff! Oh, man!
My translator took a look at this can and informed me it’s a cafe au lait, and it’s made of distinctive milk from cows from the Hokkaido region of Japan. I had heard about Hokkaido dairy before and I’m merely a lowly american, so it must be good! Of note, the can is only full to about where the taper in the bottle ends, which explains why this doesn’t match to the 11 ounces of previous bottle-can things.
How’s the taste? At first, quite lovely! But at the end theres a very faint sort of fake note, like a bit of the dextrin or something like that sneaking in. I do suppose it’s a bit creamier than the standard UCC milk coffee, and a bit tastier. But the UCC milk coffee is very common in the States, the company manufacturing it locally for local sale and everything. This is an import item, hence the wonky nutrition label that I really wish included a measurement of sugar. I did some more digging hoping to find a sugar content, and I found Rakuten selling a 24 pack case of these for 3,229 yen, or about 21 dollars. That’s a steal! Way cheaper than what I paid, but I’m importing and not buying in bulk.
