CANNED COFFEE RETURNS!!!
Run and hide if you must! Ok, so, I moved to Minneapolis from central North Carolina! It was a long, adruous drive with thankfully minimal complications. Still, long and arduous. Along that drive I checked every gas station for canned coffee, and came up empty. I did, however, stop at Jungle Jim’s in Cincanatti. That, plus a trip to the mall of America and I have nine canned coffees on the backburner, ready to be drank! Heaven help me…
How do I describe Jungle Jim’s? It’s the most tourist-y non tourist attraction you can imagine. It’s a grocery store with a huge international section, a wall of bizzare soda’s (Leninade, anyone?) and the Big Cheese. Words cannot describe the big cheese, I wept. They also had canned coffee, mostly varieties I’ve already tried, but there were two new contenders. An american brand which will be next up, and Lotte! I can’t remember if we’ve had a Lotte brand drink before, I don’t think we have. I’ve seen them around, they’re just usually not coffee. What strikes me about this one the most is the amazing text on the front of the can that reads “Coffee as sweet as falling in first love- always Let’s be together!” It’s perfect.
This is a small can, less than six ounces, but it’s also easily the cheapest coffee we’ve had period full stop. It cost, uh…
Oh dear, I threw out the receipt… Well take my word for it, it was somewhere around one dollar and nine cents. Cost per ounce wise that’s not the best but, it’s so cheap! How does it taste? Pretty alright, actually! It’s the sort of standard asian canned coffee flavor profile I’m used to, but a bit more watery. I can also taste the sugar fairly well, which makes sense considering how much sugar is in this tiny can. It’ll wake you up more than the caffeine will, which is good for me. I’ve started drinking coffee after lunch, because if I drink it in the morning I’m sleepy by afternoon. After lunch coffee is the best way to keep myself awake. Now, if only the coffee was any good… Lotte’s website says this is the most popular coffee drink in Korea, and I can believe it! It’s good, and moreover it’s cheap. Cheap is always good for me!
